Madeira has exceptional conditions for the practice of canyoning, as a result of its geological, climatic, hydric natural characteristics. It is considered by canyoning experts as one of the best places in Europe. Canyoning consists of descending a river bed, through the natural obstacles nature has placed there, using mountaineering, swimming and obstacle bypssing techniques. This activity allows enjoying natural but hidden landscapes within the valleys and canyons among the Laurel Forest, classified by UNESCO as World heritage.
The requirements for this activity are simple: the person must be at least 14 years old, and able to swim. The minimum number of participants should be 3.
