Diving
Our partner was twice rated as one of the 3 best diving schools in the Atlantic by the German magazine "Tauchen", being the only one with nitrox and Rebreather facilities, and it also rated by the German diving federation VDST, Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques CMAS, and Protec. Situated a few meters away from the coast line, in Funchal, this allows clients to explore underwater life at any time during their opening hours. There are two boat start-offs a day for the dive spots, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the hotel centre in Funchal.
They also offer a free transfer every morning, from the various hotels in Funchal to the diving center.
The diving center is divided into five areas:

The office and teaching area, where clients are welcomed and two theoretical classes are given. To teach, the most modern material is used, such as: overhead projector with sheets Transview via computer, Beamer, video and white board.

the clients area, where they can leave their personal belongings during their time around

the equipment area, with workshop, and where the NITROX station is situated, as well as all the material to rent

the washing and cleaning area, with a 500l fresh water tank to wash the equipment and plenty of space to dry everything

the compressor area, with a powerful compressor (450l/min) and an air intake of 90,000 bar-liters
Equipment to rent:
- 50 bottles of 10 and 12, in steel or aluminium
- 20 complete equipments in the most used sizes, for men and women
- NITROX e Rebreather equipment
- 5 complete equipment for children and teenagers, with 4 and 7 litre bottles
- Suunto Gekko computers, also for Nitrox
- Sherwood e Scubapro regulators
- Rebreather equipment from Dräger and Submatix
- Underwater camera
- Underwater flashlights
- Signalling buoys and light alarm signal

Wreck BOWBELLE |
Depth: 30-32 meters. Quite a mythical dive due to the history of the sunken ship (intefvenient in an accident in the river Thames, London, 1989, with the Marchionesse ship, which caused 51 casualties). Large and varied shoals spottable |

Steamship wreck |
Depth: 31 meters. Because of the numerous shoals, we can find here Barracuda, Tuna e Amberjack. Inside the wreck two Groupers, Congas and Morays are dwelling. Boat trip: approx. 5 min. |

Pão de Açucar |
A rock (sugar loaf) that emerges from the water and can be surrounded, showing us a large variety of fauna and flora. Boat trip: approx 5 min |

Garajau Bay |
Here lies the main attraction: Big sized Meros. Huge shoals of Tuna, Barracudas, Amberjacks and Stingrays. Boat trip: approx. 20 min. |

Pyramid |
A rock with the shape of a pyramid from a depth of 3 to 15 meters. Here you can see Rays, Morays, crabs and many life forms. Boat trip: approx.10 min. |

Baracudas Reef |
Two pinnacle-shaped rocks in a depth from 15 to 30 meters, covered by yellow anemone, and providing also fascinating views of big Bicudas, Rays and Morays, Congas and shoals of Amberjacks and Pig Fish. Boat trip approx. 20 min. |

Garajau East |
A diving spot with a big variety of fish. Here lives the biggest Grouper known in Madeira. Among the rocks a lot of Trumpet Fish can be seen playing around. In the sand, large colonies of coloured spunges can be seem. Boat trip: approx 20 min. |

Volcanic reef |
Providing a large variety of sea fauna and flora, namely to see: Humantins, Parrot-fish, Groupers and a lot of other species. Boat trip: approx 10 min |

Monks reef |
A shallow area near Reis Magos. A waving reef dropping from 20 to 35 meters, with a lot of holes and caves. Here we can usually see: Barracudas, Groupers and Rays. Boat trip: approx. 25 min. |
For Nitrox and Rebreather divers (and those who aim at being one)
As an authorized ITDAS center for Nitrox and Rebreather courses, training is assured within the most recent safety parameters.
Nitrox and Rebreather do not mean diving at the technology frontier any more. Nowadays, it is believed that it is a necessary equipment to bring diving to meet the most recent safety rules.
The objective is to teach the simple but effective diving technique with Nitrox and Rebreather, using the Ray and Dolphin equipment from Draeger and Submatix manufacturers.
